Heritage means what we inherit from our ancestors and from our past. The heritage of Ghana is the result of development in the social economic, cultural and political life of Ghanaian people over a period of years. The land and the people are the two components of this heritage.
Nature has made Ghana a distinct geographical entity and also a unique country. Enchanting Ghana is a treasury of arts, architecture of philosophy, classical dances and music from various ethnic groups, the mesmerizing Shai Hills Reserve, Aburi Botanical Garden, Larabanga Mosque, Cape Coast Castle, Kyabobo National Park, Bui Dam, Kintampo Waterfalls, Asumura White-necked rockfowl, Kente Weaving, Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary, Nzulezu Stilt Village, Bia National Prak, Gushegu Smock Market, Gambaga Escarpment, Paga Crocodile Pond and Wechiau Hippo Sanctuary. Some rich Ghanaian festivals are Kurubi, Asogli, Damba, Homowo, Ohum, Masquerade, Akwesidae, Akwantukese, Dambai and many more. Ghana is all of these and more.

National Heritage Quiz Competition Board (NHQCB) believes that Heritage Education is important to the youth and generations yet unborn of the beliefs, values, history and socio-cultural contexts of the land they live in, and not to be confined merely to the study of physical survivals. Such education encompasses the acceptance and respect for cultural diversity internally and at the global level to raise critical awareness among the children, youth and elders which is the need of the hour.
It is to this end that NHQCB in partnership with Ministry of Education (MoE), Ghana Education Service (GES), Ghana TVET Service, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MTC), Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), National Commission on Culture(NCC), National Folklore, Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs (MCRA), the National House of Chiefs (NHC), Regional House of Chiefs (RHC), Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) and Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) as its main media partner conceptualized the Heritage Education programme for second cycle institutions.
The National Heritage Quiz Competition Board (NHQCB) aims to raise awareness about Ghana’s rich cultural heritage among future decision makers and encourage their participation in safeguarding their cultural legacy and also history of Ghana for generations to come.
The National Heritage Quiz is one of the many enrichment activities initiated by NHQCB with the objective of inculcating interest and appreciation among children, youth and elders for their rich heritage and diversity of the country. Commencing this year, it will be a tremendous enthusiasm among the communities and schools who will be participating with even greater vigor every year.
